10 Ways to Fight Dark Under-eye Circles



They say eyes are the windows to a person’s soul. Now, we don’t want those windows to be framed by dark circles, do we? Here are a few quick fixes and a few tips to avoid dark circles in the long run.

 Cucumber slices:

For a quick lift, put some cool cucumber slices on your eyes and leave for at least 20 minutes.

 Raw Potato Slices:

Every other day, put potato raw potato slices on your eyes. They contain potassium and take away your dark circles.

 Tomato Juice:

Dip a cotton ball in tomato juice and apply to the area around the eyes. Wash with cold water after 15 minutes.

 Tea Bags:

We have all heard how putting cold tea bags on our eyes refreshes them. But make sure they have tannic acid. Most herbal teas do not have tannic acid and so, it would be a waste of your time (and tea).


An apple a day can also keep the dark circles away! They are rich in tannic acid which lightens skin tone. Also, they are loaded with Vitamins B and C and potassium, all of which lighten skin color. Put apple slices on your eyes for 15 minutes. Wash the area with cold water afterwards.


Before going to sleep, massage the area around your eyes with Vitamin E or almond oil. Make sure there is no contact with the eyes. This will improve blood circulation around your eyes.

Vitamin K creams:

Vitamin K help strengthen capillary walls so that dark circles and veins become less visible.


Think: has your sleep pattern been disrupted recently? Sleep deprivation is the biggest cause of dark circles. It can be difficult, but try to get your regular sleep pattern back.

Say no to technology:

We have all gotten addicted to our laptops and smart phones and TVs. Try to avoid these, at last for the hour before your bed time. Because they are so bright, screens inhibit the production of the sleep inducing hormone, Melatonin, which is produced by dark surroundings. Go the old fashioned way and read before bedtime.


Drinking lots of water is always the solution to everything. Especially something related to skin.

Go green:

Add lots of vegetables and greens to your diet. Dark circles can be a sign of a vitamin deficiency.
